Goodbye Dear Summer

Oh Summer, you can't possibly be leaving so soon.  It seems as if you'd just arrived, and yet, you are ending so fast!  How is that possible?!

Joe heads back to school tomorrow.  We are all in a bit of a rut of sadness around here.  After all, this summer was just amazing.  We didn't do much, really, but we made the most of it, and that's what counts.

We saw some Phish.  We did some camping.  We went to the pool.  We saw some Avett Brothers.  We went to the beach.  We did some camping.  Ahh yes, you see a theme, don't you?  What's more fun than live music and basking in the sun?  Soon, we'll be eating turkey and bundling ourselves in sweaters as the smells of Autumn come into our home.

Oh Summer, you were so good to us this year!

August is Slipping By....

I looked at the calendar this afternoon, and it caught me by surprise.  Really?!  How is it that there are just three more weeks until Labor Day?  Did my summer really fly by that fast?  I swear, it was just the Fourth of July!  How did this happen?!   I'm sad...and I vow to make the most of every moment left this summer!

Celebrating Summer - Ice Cream

Happy Solstice to you! I hope your day was magical. I rocked my not so little man to sleep last night as I looked out the window thinking about how the longest day of the year was officially over! So quickly! So it had me thinking...what do we do to celebrate summer?

See this piggy bank? It sits in our dining room. Every time I find change laying around, I put it in this very piggy bank. It weighs quite a bit right now. It's contents? Our ice cream money!

We are lucky enough to live in a town with not one, but TWO ice cream places! Not to mention the other THREE we can ride bikes to! So with the heat sinking in, there is nothing like heading out after dinner with our change purse filled to indulge in a little ice cream.

There is something to be said for the creamy cold refreshment that goes with the lick of the first summer cone. We look forward to more adventures to get ice cream. The walks aren't so bad either ;)
