Should Auld Aquaintance be Forgot...

Well..with no more Phish in MSG...or any other arena for that matter, we often find ourselves just a little bit lost on NYE. We tend not to make plans and end up doing something mediocre without Phish. To some, it's really trivial. To us, it was one of the best nights of the entire year. I can't think of any place I'd rather be than in an arena, sweating my skin off, dancing to my favorite band, anticipating the next moments. Nothing can compare to it.

This year, we'll be spending our NYE at a party at Chip and Marissa's house. If anything can come close, this will be the place. We're spending it with Phishy friends, in a great place, with a bar, and great music. What more could we ask for?

Hopefully the year to come will prosper for all of you. Hopefully your resolutions will stand strong. It's going to be a great year. 29 previous years of practice has got to say something, right?

Happy New Year!

Candy Canes and Whippersnappers

What happens when you give 46 students a week of school before Christmas and a lot of candy canes? They simply go crazy, that's what! This week has been pure hell. A coworker of mine refers to it as the SECOND longest week of school, the only one topping it off is the very LAST week. Next week's break can't come soon enough.

MXC

I've recently discovered Most Extreme Elimination Challenge on Spike TV. This show is nothing more than Nintendo for humans translated by really funny people. I can't imagine what they are all REALLY saying. It's got to be funny, even in Japanese. I swear they are absolutely crazy! None the less, you should check it out, because it's hilarious!
Time..

It's amazing how much more time you have when you close your door from the outside world. You get caught up grading papers, you even listen to some music, you browse sites you haven't had time for, you just breath! I'm glad it's almost break...I need a rest! School is fun but as always, exhausting..10 miles a week on foot doesn't help either I suppose ;)

Winter Blahs...

Do you ever have days when getting out of bed is so unbelievably difficult that you never quite function right the rest of the day? Winter has set in. I'm starting to think it's here to stay, even though it's too damn early for it to get cold. Last week, I was watching the weather channel and they said the average daily temperature for this time of year is 47 degrees. Today, we'll be lucky to break 25!! What is wrong with this picture?! It just makes it difficult to deal with. Having to go home and bundle under multiple layers before I go out walking does not make my day. By the time I've covered almost 2 miles by foot, my nose and cheeks start to go numb! I hate winter..I can't wait til it's summer again..It seems like it's going to be longer than normal this year.

Maybe so...Maybe not...

So the rumors are abound on PT. I normally don't buy into them, but this time, I'm more than a little tempted to give them all a listen. It makes sense, on more than one behalf. Will Phish come back for Halloween 06? It would give me the opportunity to experience what I feel like I was somewhat numb to the last time I saw them play..with a clear mind..not clouded by exhaustion and confusion. Philly would be wonderful. It's practically my backyard..and oh, the spectrum. I've seen Phish every single time they've played there, and one other time at the Civic Center..quite a few shows..We'll see I suppose!

Atlantic City and Phil Lesh

We headed down yesterday afternoon for some snazzy good times in AC at Bally's. The House of Blues was not really that far of a walk up the boardwalk. Our room had a view of the ocean and the adjacent building had mirrored panes of glass in which we could see the reflection of our tower. It's amazing how they actually engineer these places. It's obviously very deliberate! We headed over to HOB about an hour before doors. It's amusing to watch slot players, throwing their money into the machines so mindlessly..in minutes, the money is just plain gone. I just don't get the whole gambling thing. Adam played Roulette with his friend Matt and in 2 minutes, they lost 25 bucks! Just gone...what fun is that??

Aya!

Well, the show was just great. I really enjoyed the venue and all it's eccentricities. The pat down getting in was real fierce, include a triple swipe of the metal detectors! You'd think hippies were known to carry guns or something :/ I had looked at the setlists before going, and said to Lindsay and Adam that they hadn't played Unbroken Chain, a song I have a deep emotional bond with, but that's another story. They played it last night..and it was amazing! Some other highlights include Not Fade Away and a stellar China Cat Rider, not to mention DEAL for AC!

I always missed the Phish Vegas thing. But after going to AC for a show, I'm not sure what the hype is :/ Maybe I'm missing something..but isn't it all casinos and wasted people? Is Vegas really all that much more sparkly?

10 Years ago today...

I found myself trekking to Albany to see Phish in a blizzard. Today, the gang is here and we are headed to Atlantic City to see Phil and Friends. It's a little bit icy out as it snowed last night. It's kinda ironic that it should snow again.. but it doesn't surprise me. It'll be a good time tho. I'll be sure to post when I get back sometime tomorrow :)

It snowed!

Yep, that's right kids! First of the season! I went to bed and saw greenery outside and woke up to a fluffy white blanket. I helped J. tile her floor yesterday. Thank God I decided to tough the cold out and finish cutting tiles!! It would have been covered in snow today! I'm achy but none the less, I go back again for a little bit of grouting then it's done! Perhaps I'll bring my camera with me today to show you all what it looks like. Do I have a tiling side job in my future? never know ;)
