The Perfect Afternoon

Perhaps this weekend I'll have an opportunity to garden. I haven't gotten much of that in, and I'm really despising that groundhog. He's got this hiding spot, under our shed. It's perfect for him to sneak out and eat my plants. I've tried putting bricks into his space, but he still seems to find a way. I figure a few more bricks and he won't have any luck at all! Perhaps I'll plant Patrick on the blanket under the tree with a few toys and let him enjoy the weather while I dig in the dirt. Looks like the perfect afternoon, doesn't it? Happy Weekend Everyone!

Like a Fish

As a child, my mother took my brother and I to a local man made lake called Bubbling Springs. It wasn't anything real big, but it was enough! There was a beach, lined in trees, all surrounding a lake with a diving board and a few docks. Every day for the entire summer, we'd get up in the morning, put our bathing suits on, and my mother would trek us to the lake where she'd sit in the sun all day and we'd play in the water. We even had friends that we saw there that we only played with in the summer. It was a glorious thing for a kid, a local place to swim on a daily basis!

Unfortunately, for as much as I love Bordentown, it doesn't leave us with many options to swim. I know, "River-girl", living blocks from the Delaware, you'd think we WOULD have a swimming option, but unfortunately, you can't really swim in the river here (although we sometimes head out to the sand flat and wade, enough to get wet and enjoy ourselves). So Joe and I headed south about a half hour to Wharton State Forest where Atsion Lake is.

It was the perfect day: sunny, warm, breezy. The water was warm enough to swim and enjoy as well. Patrick really enjoyed the water and the sand! We can't wait to do it again!

The Groundhog

It doesn't really make much difference. He lives in the neighbor's yard. Of course, the neighbor doesn't care; their house is up for sale and no one lives there anyway. I've never actually seen the beast in my yard, but when I come home, and I find that my Nasturtium have disappeared, I just know. The furry monster has visited my garden! I told myself that if I saw him in the road, I wouldn't slow down, not really thinking I'd meant it. Sure enough, the other day, he did cross my path and I did speed up. Unfortunately, I was not quick enough! Another day, groundhog! Another day!

Blue Balloon

Someone LOVES his first balloon!!! Who would have thought a balloon could be so much fun? And why did we wait so long to give him one?! He LOVED it so so so much!

OK! I'll play along! One of the blogs I read that I haven't added along the side yet does this, so why not?!

I did not spend all of NJ ASK playing on my computer, reading blogs, and twittering. I mean, what good teacher would do that? I certainly didn't! I can't even imagine not walking around my classroom and monitoring students as they complete this test! NOT ME!

I also didn't call in sick on Friday just to spend the day with Patrick and take him to the doctor. I mean, my job is so important, why would I do that?

I didn't get mad at him when he thought his nap on Friday was a joke and I really wanted nothing more than to take a shower. But I guess I made up for it by laying with him so he would fall asleep. But no, I did NOT let him nap in our bed..because the kid ALWAYS naps in his crib! I can't imagine leaving him alone on our bed when he's rolling! No, not me!

Welcome to Not Me! Monday! This blog carnival was created by MckMama. You can head over to her blog to read what she and everyone else have not been doing this week.

New Lens Fun (and Irises too!)

Joe was a good husband and picked up the Canon EF 50mm f/1.8 II for me for Mother's Day. Wow, I think this changes everything! So much fun already! I took it out yesterday for a spin, but unfortunately my battery died before I even got warmed up! Considering these are "cold start" pictures..I think I'm in for a lot of fun!

Every year, here in Bordentown, we celebrate the Irises. Perhaps the reason we do is because Franklin Carr, famous hybridizer of irises lived right here IN Bordentown!

It's up!

So I took the time over the weekend to sand the corners of my towel tree and get it into the bathroom. It wedges nicely between the floor and ceiling, but I still find myself moving it around to different places to make it just right. Perhaps it needs a centimeter off the top, but I feel like I'm going to ruin it if I take off anymore. None the less, it's currently doing a better job than the old coat tree, and it's just what I wanted! I'm so glad I did it!

Blocks?!

So this week was a tough one. Patrick caught some kind of a bug, compound that with a new tooth coming in (that makes SIX for those of you counting along!) and he was just miserable. Thus, Mama was just miserable too! Anyway, in the midst of a lot of whining, we decided to get out the blocks. Patrick hasn't played with them yet, and he doesn't know quite what to do with them, but none the less, he was quite amused by the variety of shapes and colors! I can see many buildings in our future!
