Like a Fish
As a child, my mother took my brother and I to a local man made lake called Bubbling Springs. It wasn't anything real big, but it was enough! There was a beach, lined in trees, all surrounding a lake with a diving board and a few docks. Every day for the entire summer, we'd get up in the morning, put our bathing suits on, and my mother would trek us to the lake where she'd sit in the sun all day and we'd play in the water. We even had friends that we saw there that we only played with in the summer. It was a glorious thing for a kid, a local place to swim on a daily basis!
Unfortunately, for as much as I love Bordentown, it doesn't leave us with many options to swim. I know, "River-girl", living blocks from the Delaware, you'd think we WOULD have a swimming option, but unfortunately, you can't really swim in the river here (although we sometimes head out to the sand flat and wade, enough to get wet and enjoy ourselves). So Joe and I headed south about a half hour to Wharton State Forest where Atsion Lake is.
It was the perfect day: sunny, warm, breezy. The water was warm enough to swim and enjoy as well. Patrick really enjoyed the water and the sand! We can't wait to do it again!
