Beanwood Coffee - Coming Soon!

...so the sign read! Living in B-city for over 5 years now, we've longed for a good coffee joint in town. Yea, we had a Starbucks, that is, until it moved to Fieldsboro, but even when that was within walking distance, it was still in the Acme..and not a "shop" by any means..

So when Beanwood Coffee posted it's sign nearly 2 years ago, we were thrilled!! A real coffee joint in town! The sign adorned the glass..and faded..and became worn with age, as the place never really came to fruition..something about bad floor joists, I'd heard..who knows?!

Then, when the ice cream maker slept with the baker, the folks at Beanwood had some luck! The ice cream place was closing down! Beanwood had its big break! It was really happening! Again!

Last night, as Joe and I walked into town to the annual Christmas Tree lighting, what did our wonderous eyes come upon? A light! Crisp window display! A sign! It was REALLY open! Of course, we rushed right in to get a warm beverage to enjoy while the tree lighting took place..

"A Mocha Latte, please!"

"Sorry, we don't have any flavors."

"mmm, ok, are you getting them?" (After all, they just opened, I had to give them the benefit of the doubt, perhaps a glitch!)

"no, I don't think so..."

I settled for hot cocoa instead, and Joe opted for a plain latte. The lids didn't fit (an ordering glitch, I'm sure!) We headed out..befuddled..how is it possible that a full blown coffee joint was offering just that..coffee?! no flavors?! no fluff? no fru fru coffee drinks?

I really hope they change their tune..they can't possibly survive on coffee and tea alone!

Happy Birthday Joe!

Just more than 13 years ago, I was blessed when Joe came into my life. We've travelled quite a road in that time..and here we find ourselves growing old together, him just a few months older than myself always ;) Today, he turns 33, as a father, as a lover, and a great man but he'll always be a kid at heart! I hope you enjoy every second of the next year! It's only going to get more exciting!

Love to you!

Gift Giving

Christmas is sneaking up fast! I've been gathering my ideas from my fellow bloggers and I think I've come up with some crafty goods! I'm not telling what this years treats will be, but I will be posting some pictures that give some clues soon ;) Making gifts has become a special treat for me the past few years. I feel like it brings the idea back to giving, rather than the gift. Seeing everyone's reactions is always extra special!

Yarn

Crafting with Yarn has never really been my thing. I've tried, I swear! I want to do it so badly, but sometimes I don't have the patience. I have more patience for little projects than for big ones. I recently bought a pair of circular knitting needles, and although I've never really knitted before, I took it upon myself to learn how to knit with these needles to make this amazing hat. I'm pretty happy with it! An added bonus: knitting keeps your hands warm! Bring on the cold weather!

A Little Autumn Warmth

Having a summer baby, we aren't used to having to keep a baby warm. In fact, he spent many nights in nothing but diapers! Now that November has kicked in, the weather is starting to bring a chill to the air. This isn't going to stop our daily outings and walks. We needed a solution. I made this adorable bundle. Why do I love it so much? It isn't like a "snowsuit", in that it isn't very bulky, but it isn't just a coat, where when I wear him in a carrier, his legs will get cold. It's the solution to mittens and leg warmers all in one. It's easy enough to put on and take off for just an outing without taking hardly any time at all.

Joe thinks he looks like a turtle, wouldn't you agree?
