Grilling Weather!

Remember that game show I was on that never actually aired? Remember the grills that we thought we were never really going to get?
Well the rumors started to fly about two weeks ago that our grills were on their way. It was really too good to be true on Thursday when we got the call announcing their delivery on Friday. Had it been a normal January, we'd probably be scratching our heads wondering what the hell to do with these things!! With a tepid high of 55 today, if not 60, what better time to get one grill setup on the deck? Apparently all the neighbors had the same idea!! Across the street, it took three men more time than it took me alone to put together one of the 200 grills. I jokingly commented to some local walkerbys that I was going to be the first to have mine put together. I don't know that I was the first, but it's all put together on my deck ready to go. It really is the be all end all of grills. The console controls lights up, there is a light that pulls up and lights your grilling surface. Should I mention the rotisserie too??
I keep posting of my hopes for summer..I really think that damn groundhog is going to tell us Winter is over this week..at least one can hope, right?

Is it Summer yet?

Well, no, it isn't. But considering Terrapin has officially announced the dates for Vibes 2006, you'd think we were damn near close! This year, Vibes will be held August17th - August19th at Indian Lookout...

Now, you may be wondering why it is so signifigant that I am posting about it. Five years ago on these very dates, Terrapin hosted a different festival at the same very location. It was the Summit, and it was signifigant of our wedding weekend. Ken Hayes was kind enough to guest us in as the kick off to our honeymoon! It was a great time! So..really..is there a better place I'd like to be that very weekend? Whether I'll be pregnant or not? Hell no! Five years! It's time to celebrate! Bring it on Terrapin!

Closing the Door

When things get rough, we often wish we could close the door of our lives and just close the world out, only letting in those who we are closest too. Thankfully, I have that when I go home. It seems that the drama continually unfolds here at school every year at right about this time. Last year, I had a window into the hearts and souls of my friends that I no longer choose to have. On days like today, I wish I had that little window. It would make my life much more sane at times I think. At least I have music to get me through. Thank god for closed doors!

Uhm Spring?

Well it seems as if Winter has decided to make a very brief appearance here in NJ. We had about 2 weeks of frigid temps in December and a minimal amount of snow but it seems as if Winter has packed up and left lately! I know, I'm really just jumping the gun on this one but for the time being, I'm all that much happier to enjoy the mild temps. Yesterday it was 57. Today it's 47, tomorrow it's supposed to hit mid 50s again and by the weekend, we are talking nearly 60!!
It makes my daily walk much more bearable yet I am not fooling myself. I keep looking at weather.com looking at the 10 day praying that it isn't just going to BE there one day..snow..tundra..UGH! At least I'm safe through the 19th!! The winter gets shorter with each passing day of these warmer temps. Before I know it, Summer will be here!

The Frugal Washer

Well..I came home today destined to go buy that washer. I saw a Home Depot commercial last night and something about a "hurry because the offer ends soon..blah blah blah" and I went online to check it out. Sure enough, the no interest til 2007 deal ends on the 10th..Now, we could have paid cash for the damn thing, but why should we? When we got the dryer, I opened up a HD credit account and we saved 10 percent, which came to like 60 bucks..plus $50 rebate for shipping and a $50 gift card ! Well, key was waiting for that gift card(that fate might have it just *happened* to come in the mail today). In the meantime, I tiled a coworkers floor and made some nice cash, including a gift card, plus another I got for Christmas that I promptly bought a circular saw with only to find out that my mother in law has one in the garage that they've never used so I returned it. So what does that mean for this damn washer??

Well..start with a $50 dollar off sale, now take off 10% because Joe is going to open a HD credit card, then subtract $150 in gift cards, wait for another $50 rebate on shipping, *and* get another $50 gift card for Home Depot by mailing in some little forms, and you've got yourself one REALLY FREAKEN cheap front load washer!! No really, without the rebates on shipping, I've already saved us 280 bucks out of pocket! It's rather insane if you ask me :)

So this thing arrives next Saturday, which leads me into my next project, the laundry room. I like to carefully eye up my projects long before I start them. I think about the color, what exactly I want, etc etc.. I know, you are thinking, this is the LAUNDRY room, what the hell difference does it make? Really, it makes a lot of difference considering it is the one room I spend most of my waking moments in the morning! Joe and I bought a closet organizer for his closet today. If that works out, we'll do the same in my closet. The washer and dryer finally match. Now, just for the cabinets in the spring and a new coat of paint, although the walls are bumpy, and yes, i bet it was deliberate, it may have to go!! ugh! sanding!

What will I have left when I'm done!? Oh thats right...a baby room soon enough!
