From Innocent Pony Party to THIS...

Halloween is always so much fun! This year, we had the joy of going to my cousin's house for her babies birthday party. There was a pony there and good family and friends. Afterwards, we headed off to Purdam's house..These are our teacher friends..see what happens when you get a little drunk?? Although we were Laverne and Shirley last week, we opted to relive our costumes from last year...Jack and Sally..but unfortunately, a drunk person can't really focus the camera ;) So this is the best I can do. Everyone loved the costumes..most said we had the coolest ones there! I knew there was a reason to relive those costumes ;)
Us in our Jack and Sally Costumes..all homemade ;)

Purdum as a very different Jack!

Jenny and Eric, dramatically funny as always!

Elise's Annual Shindig

Every year, like clockwork, Elise holds her annual Halloween shindig at her house. It has gotten so fierce that we start conspiring about costumes in August, and it's top secret through the following two months. We didn't always get as excited to dress up, but it has come to be a yearly tradition. This year, Joe posed the idea of "Laverne and Shirley".

I remember the day he said it, I nearly busted a gut sitting on the couch. So this was it, and Joe was to be Laverne..Some pictures below show the full magnitude of what REALLY went down. We did get silly sharing costume parts well into the night.

Chip took to the British explosion with my wig for Shirley and he was hitting on Laverne! Can you imagine?

Marissa had fun dressing Chip up with her catgirl head gear.

Copycat! Foiled!

If you plan on plagiarizing, please do me a few favors?
DO make sure you understand all of the words you are using.
DO use a thesaurus and change the ones you don't!
DON'T go home and tell you mother pretending you have no idea why you got a zero before I actually give you your paper back! Get a clue!

Geesh! The internet and it's downfalls, or advantages..Depends on whose point of view I guess ;) Thank god for Google!

Mississippi

So today, I had the pleasure of covering for the 8th grade Religion class...It wasn't five minutes into the period when one of them (that isn't mine) rudely said to me, "Mrs. Conroy, it's not by my request but can you say Mississippi." Now really..I've grown up with a lisp. I went to speech for 6 years to no avail. I've heard it before. This little smart ass thought he was pulling one over on me.

"Ok, so if it isn't you, who is it?" Student sitting next to him smirks..apparently it isn't him, it's the kid in front of him...an 8th grader that I don't normally have. I look at him..he thinks he's funny, that is, until I verbally put him in his place in front of the entire class. I think he nearly died when I totally called him out.

My 8th graders would never do that to me. In fact, at precisely 11:50, one of them in my class during LA said "Mrs. Conroy, there should be a rule that if you are having fun in a class, you don't have to leave!" Yeah, uhm hmm..revising, fun? suuuuuuuuuuure..but hey, if I'm making it fun, all the better, right? :)

Distressed!

No, I'm not referring to an emotion..I'm referring to a new awesome store in Bordentown. Joe called me from the Cranberry Festival while I was walking around with Elise and said "There is a new store, you should check it out, i'd be surprised if you didn't find something you like". So of course, I went poking around to find it. Sure enough! A great store full of awesome furniture at great prices! I picked up a coffee table today..for 50 bucks! It's done in distressed style, hence making it look old..I talked to the girl who owns it. Apparently she does alot of estate sale hunting and gets things real cheap. Her intentions? To keep the prices extremely reasonable! Reasonable was really an understatement. I could have easily walked out with alot more than this one piece, but I'm waiting to see what else she brings in. They had a Farmhouse table, but it wasn't big enough..the cost? 140!! That, my friends, is a STEAL! So I'll certainly be in and out. We pick up our coffee table tomorrow..too many folks to get it today :)
Cranberry Festival

The crisp air sets in. The nights get cooler. You know it's time for Bordentown's Annual Cranberry Festival. We all have our interests. For Diana, it's the Chicken Sandwiches from Farnsworth house, for me, its the Kettle Corn. It's really a fun little weekend. Fall festivals are just great!
