35 Weeks 6 Days
Well, the inevitable happened. Here I am, sitting in the hospital, where I've been since early Friday morning. You see, I woke up with a bleed. The Placenta Previa finally got the best of me. Very calmly, I told Joe that we needed to go. Of course, our intricately planned overnight plans didn't work out quite the way we wanted. My inlaws were down the shore for the night visiting an old friend. Our middle of the night neighbor calls were not answering their door for no particular reason - they just didn't hear us at 2:15 in the morning! When I called the OB Emergency line, they told me that none of my doctors were on call and that there was coverage by another doctor. Yeah, not quite what we planned!
But we got here, and got through the initial workup. I was hooked up to many monitors and put under observation, where I still reside two days later. I am contracting. They are trying to control it with Procardia. Sometimes it works, others it doesn't. They are mild, but I can feel them. Of course, this drug causes me to be nauseous. Getting sick causes me to bleed more. So they have me on Zofran as well. It really is a complicated business here!
I'm told I can go home tomorrow if things are OK. My gut is telling me otherwise. I think that this baby is coming out, via c-section, which seems emanate now..before I go home.
36 Weeks...I made it this far! Patrick was born at 37 weeks, 3 days. It's not uncommon for second babies to come even earlier. I just didn't think it would be now!
