Mississippi

So today, I had the pleasure of covering for the 8th grade Religion class...It wasn't five minutes into the period when one of them (that isn't mine) rudely said to me, "Mrs. Conroy, it's not by my request but can you say Mississippi." Now really..I've grown up with a lisp. I went to speech for 6 years to no avail. I've heard it before. This little smart ass thought he was pulling one over on me.

"Ok, so if it isn't you, who is it?" Student sitting next to him smirks..apparently it isn't him, it's the kid in front of him...an 8th grader that I don't normally have. I look at him..he thinks he's funny, that is, until I verbally put him in his place in front of the entire class. I think he nearly died when I totally called him out.

My 8th graders would never do that to me. In fact, at precisely 11:50, one of them in my class during LA said "Mrs. Conroy, there should be a rule that if you are having fun in a class, you don't have to leave!" Yeah, uhm hmm..revising, fun? suuuuuuuuuuure..but hey, if I'm making it fun, all the better, right? :)

Hey Caroline-

I found your site through Kelli. Just thought I'd pop in and say 'hi'. And keep those kids in check!! You rock!
